Attached below is a letter from Rebecca Pow MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs, outlining a variety of new Government amendments to the Environment Bill and other green initiatives.
The Third Reading of the Environment Bill will take place on Wednesday 26 May 2021, and the Government is putting forward amendments such as 'to require a historic, new legally binding target on species abundance for 2030 - aiming to halt the decline of nature in England.' There will also be amendments to provide new powers to re-focus the habitats regulations in England to our domestic priorities.
Alongside Government amendments to the bill, the Government has announced An England Peat Action Plan and An England Trees Action Plan.
