The St Chris School Robotics team has won the prestigious Design Award at the VEX Robotics UK National Championship 2024 (held at the start of March in a 2 day tournament at the Telford International Centre). The team competed against 63 other teams from around the country, each team present had to win a regional event to qualify.
The team has now qualified for the world championships in Dallas, Texas. The worlds' take place over a 3 day event held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison convention center aka "The Dome", a 10,000 seater arena with over 800 teams from around the world competing! The dates of the tournament are 25/26/27 April. It's hard to express in words, but the event is huge and the single largest robotics event in the world!
The team is made up of 7 year 11 students who are studying for their GCSEs in the summer and enjoying balancing their studies with preparing for the big trip to Texas.
The team is excited to represent Letchworth, Hertfordshire and the UK on the global stage. Robotics brings together all elements of STEM as well as team work and creativity.
