North East Herts MP Sir Oliver Heald was delighted when his Bill was accepted today by ministers, who agreed to do all the things he had asked for in his Bill, Children in Hospital for Extended Periods (Report to Parliament). Oliver presented the case for greater support for parents and Minister Jo Churchill MP agreed to set up a stakeholder forum, investigate and also produce a report to support the review, which will take six months. Ceri and Frances Menai-Davis were in the Public Gallery to see the success having raised their concerns following the death of their son, Hugh, in 2021.
Commenting Oliver said: ‘I am delighted at this success and that Ceri and Frances were able to see the Minister agree to what we wanted and also that they will have a meeting with the Minister in the next two weeks to discuss the details of the review process.’
