Dear Sir Oliver
Further to my brief email on Wednesday morning, DfE officials have been in regular contact with the chief executive of Diamond Learning Partnership Trust.
The trust, as the responsible body, has ultimate responsibility for the site and its buildings. Diamond Learning received capital funding from the DfE of £597,938 in the current financial year for this purpose. It has contingency plans in place, which detail how to handle emergency issues of this kind and can use its capital allocation (and reserves) in support of this.
I am aware that the trust has also submitted a claim to the Risk Protection Arrangement (a DfE alternative to commercial insurance) to support the costs associated with the storm damage, and that a site visit should take place this week.
We will continue working with the trust to explore a range of options to return pupils to face-to-face education as soon as possible at King James Academy.
Best wishes,
Jonathan
