MP for North East Hertfordshire, Sir Oliver Heald, has welcomed the British Heart Foundation’s campaign to add CPR to the national curriculum. Only one-in-ten people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, but a good knowledge of the CPR procedure helps a victim’s chances enormously.

Sir Oliver is pictured outside Parliament with other MPs and BHF staff, using the image of a broken heart to raise awareness of the campaign.

Commenting, Sir Oliver said, “Without CPR, people suffering an out-of-hospital heart attack have low chances of survival, but only a few hours spent teaching it in schools would equip our young people to administer it and save lives. Eighty thousand people signed BHF’s petition on the subject, and I am happy to add my voice to theirs.”
