Emily Thornberry: To ask the Attorney-General how much additional funding the Serious Fraud Office has received to carry out its investigation into the manipulation of LIBOR rates.
The Solicitor-General (Oliver Heald): The Treasury has undertaken in principle to make additional funds available to the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) to cover the costs of the LIBOR investigation to the extent that they cannot be met from the SFO's existing budget. The undertaking is for up to £3.5 million for each of the next three years to be available. The SFO has not yet received any of this additional funding but will be finalising requirements for 2012-13 as part of the Supplementary Estimate process.
