Sir Oliver Heald, MP for North East Hertfordshire, has welcomed the tax concession for married couples and civil partners which has been launched by the Government. This tax break will provide people in these two categories who earn less than £10,600 a year, a tax reduction of up to £212 in the 2015-16 tax year. Eligible couples can register the interest here and will be invited to apply formally from 6 April.
Commenting, Sir Oliver said, “I welcome the introduction of this marriage allowance which will assist many in the lower income bracket. I hope that those are eligible in my constituency will take advantage of this scheme.”
