Sir Oliver Heald MP attended a National Citizen Service reception in Parliament to meet one of his constituents, George Napier, who has been selected to be one of the NCS’s Leaders for 2014/15. George, who attends Chauncey School in Ware, was selected from thousands of young people taking part in the scheme.
The NCS is a programme instituted by the current Government, aimed at training the community leaders of the future, by teaching young people aged 16 and 17 the value of volunteering, personal resilience, life skills, social skills, and outdoor skills.
Commenting, Sir Oliver said, “I am delighted to support the NCS programme and I give my heartiest congratulations to George on his achievement. The NCS is an excellent way of bringing young people together and teaching them the skills they will need later in life. I am very pleased that George has done so well as part of it.”
