North East Herts MP Sir Oliver Heald has objected to the Luton Airport planning application to increase numbers to 19 million passengers a year and has also responded option 1 in the air space consultation.  Sir Oliver believes that in the current climate with travel restricted it is not justified to increase passenger numbers.  He is also against concentrated narrow pathways for planes landing at Luton, something that has been tried in other parts of the County and been found very annoying by residents.

Commenting, Sir Oliver said “I cannot see any justification for increasing passenger numbers at Luton Airport at the moment and I am also against narrow concentrated pathways for plans landing there.  Aircraft noise is already an issue for people living in the villages of North East Hertfordshire and north Letchworth and they would not want to see a more concentrated pathway or more flights.”
