We need good GP facilities in Royston. I have been campaigning for a state of the art Health Centre and Diagnostics Centre in the town for some years. Now the two main GP practices are merging on 1st April, there is a chance to realise this vision.
I held a meeting last week with the Primary Care Minister Neil O’Brien MP, the NHS Chief for our area Jan Thomas, local doctors and Addenbrookes to press the case and I also asked about the internal NHS consultation on estates for the Cambridge and Peterborough Integrated Care Board, which oversee our area. This is the document which talks of selling off the hospital site. The date of April or June is the date when we suspect the physiotherapists will be told to work from the Health Centre rather than the Hospital.
I was told no decisions have yet been made. However I will continue to press the case for a good Health Centre and Diagnostics Unit in Royston and we have argued that the Hospital is the best site.
