North Herts MP Oliver Heald has tabled a written Parliamentary Question for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to consider creating a new national museum for BAME British history. The question asks Oliver Dowden, Secretary of State, to consider the merits of a BAME museum, similar to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington DC.
Commenting Oliver Heald said: 'When I was in Washington I was impressed by the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture and in the light of recent discussions about race equality, it struck me that it would be good to have a place where all the BAME history of Britain is brought together and put in context, so I am asking Government to consider this.'
