North East Herts MP Oliver Heald led the countdown to the lighting of the Buntingford Christmas tree at a service held for Isabel Hospice and its Lights of Love ceremony.

Residents were welcomed by the Mayor Duncan Wallace and the service was presented by Wendy Freeman with the East Herts Council Chairman Cllr Ian Devonshire in attendance. Vicar of Buntingford Revd Kirsty Wainwright blessed the tree.

Commenting, Oliver Heald said “I always think of this as the start of Christmas in Buntingford.  There was also late night shopping and a market in the town and a very festive spirit.  The Lights of Love ceremony also gave an opportunity for people to remember those who would not be with them for Christmas.  I wish all the residents of Buntingford and the surrounding area a happy Christmas and New Year.”
