North Hertfordshire MP, Sir Oliver Heald, was delighted to hear from the British Horseracing Authority that Elody Swann of Newsells Park Stud has been selected as a finalist in the 2021 Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards taking place on Monday 22 February 2021. If successful, Elody could win up to £15,000 in prize money, with the same amount distributed to colleagues within her stud.
The racing industry in Britain is worth over £4.1 billion annually and employs 10,000 stud and stable staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes of the racing and breeding industries every day. The awards, which are now in their 17th year, are generously sponsored by Godolphin and supported by the Racing Post and Racing TV, have six categories that recognise and reward the outstanding skills, commitment and contribution of the stud and stable staff.
Commenting, Sir Oliver said: ‘It is fantastic news for NE Herts that Elody has been nominated for this award. She is passionate about the mares and ‘babies’ as she calls the foals that come under her care and her efficient style of management and positive attitude despite covid challenges has made her a role model for all of her colleagues. I congratulate Elody and hope to see her crowned as employee of the year.’
